That email ends the conversation without telling you what went wrong. Before you rewrite your deck again, find out where the story is actually breaking.
The Pitch Vitals Check delivers a written clinical diagnosis of your pitch on 42 points across 7 Vital Organs: the core questions widely used investor templates ask you to answer.
Delivered within 5 business days. Written diagnostic report. No calls required.
There's one email that can make a founder start rewriting a perfectly good pitch deck: "Not the right fit at this stage." That's it. No diagnosis. No explanation. Just enough information to know the pitch didn't move forward, and not enough to know why.
So you open the deck again. Maybe the market slide needs more data. Maybe the solution needs fewer words. Maybe twelve slides should become ten. Or ten should become fifteen.
And somewhere between version 17 and version 18, a more uncomfortable question can creep in. What if the problem isn't the deck? What if I've overestimated myself? Maybe I'm a better CTO than CEO.
You can keep changing slides for weeks and still never answer the question that matters: where is the story actually breaking?
A pitch deck can look polished, contain the right information, and still leave important questions unresolved for someone thinking about risk and return instead of features. The weakness isn't necessarily on the slide where you notice the symptom. A question about your solution may begin with how you framed the problem. A question about traction may expose something unclear in the business model. And when the raise itself gets challenged, the cause can sit anywhere in the story.
That's why prettier slides, more data, shorter decks, longer decks and well-meant advice can leave you exactly where you started. You're treating the deck before you've diagnosed it. And if you're raising in the next few months, you don't have time for guesses. A rewrite made without a diagnosis is still a guess.
So instead of asking "How do I make this deck better?", start with: "Where is this business case vulnerable, and what should I fix first?" That is the question the Pitch Vitals Check is built to answer.
Gaps or contradictions that leave a question your stage requires unanswered. Fix these before the deck goes to anyone.
The question is answered, but the evidence is thin, overstated, or arrives before the reader is ready for it.
Wording and order that cost the reader time. Fix these last.
A deck that opens doors is not the same as a deck that closes rounds.
The failures that cost the most are not always the ones that stop you before the meeting. Some produce a strong first conversation, with genuine interest, good questions and a promise to follow up, and then silence.
That silence can mean the investor saw something they couldn't get past. Something in the logic. Something in the story architecture that raised a question they didn't ask out loud, and that you never got the chance to answer.
Those are the failures the Pitch Vitals Check is specifically designed to find.
Investors weigh things differently. In my view, these seven are the questions a deck has to answer, whoever reads it. The Pitch Vitals Check maps your deck against all seven, checking each one for gaps, contradictions and claims the deck cannot yet support.
How you define the problem, the market, and the moment. Your first slides have to make clear what the opportunity is. A market framed too broadly or too narrowly raises the same question: has this founder earned the number they're claiming?
The logical chain between the problem, its cause, and your solution. In my view, a broken problem frame is one of the hardest failures to see from inside the business, because you already know why the problem matters.
Whether your solution answers the problem you actually defined, not the problem you wish you had. A solution that reads like a feature dressed as a company, or that solves a problem without needing what you've built, invites the question: why a company, and why this?
The story your metrics tell, beyond the numbers themselves. Weak framing can undersell even strong metrics. The scan evaluates how your evidence is sequenced, what it implies to an investor risk model, and where it raises more questions than it answers.
Whether your revenue architecture makes sense at the scale implied by your raise. Unit economics, CAC, payback. Are they stated, do they agree with each other, and do you claim only what you can already know?
How you handle the competitive landscape without either dismissing it or conceding too much. To me, a quadrant with a conveniently empty top-right corner says more about the founder than about the market. The scan evaluates whether your positioning builds or destroys conviction.
The structure and logic of your funding ask: amount, use of proceeds, milestones, and the implied business thesis that connects your raise to your outcome. The question underneath is simple: do you know what the money is actually for? A deck can leave that unanswered without anyone telling you.
The booking form is the intake. At checkout it asks for a link to your current pitch deck, your raise stage and target, the date of your next investor meeting, your target investor profile and any feedback received to date. It takes a few minutes, and it means the diagnostic is calibrated to your situation, not generic advice applied to a slide deck.
Your deck is evaluated across all 7 Vital Organs using the full 42-point diagnostic framework. Each checkpoint is assessed, and every finding is rated Critical, Significant, or Minor. This is a clinical read, not impressionistic feedback. The scan identifies what is wrong and why it matters to someone deciding whether to take the risk.
The findings are structured into a Triage Map: a prioritised diagnostic overview that shows you which problems are structural, which are fixable, and which order to address them. The Triage Map is designed to be used as your reconstruction brief, not filed as a review document.
You receive your complete Pitch Vitals Check report: the full 42-point scan with findings by organ, severity ratings, the Triage Map, and specific remediation direction for every Critical finding. Delivered as a PDF within 5 business days, counted from the moment the deck link you provide opens for me.
The diagnostic comes first. Surgery, when indicated, follows. That order is what makes the results worth trusting.

"Every pass comes with a reason. The founder rarely hears the real one."
You already know your business is good. That is not the question keeping you up at night.
The question is why the investor across from you doesn't seem to see it, and whether that means the problem is your deck, your story, or something you are too close to identify from the inside.
In my view, it is usually the story. And the story fails at a layer that slide redesign cannot reach: whether an investor comes away thinking, this founder understands what I am actually risking here.
That is the layer the Pitch Vitals Check is built to diagnose.
My background is not pitch coaching or slide design. I spent over two decades at Canon Europa and Kyocera Document Solutions building and defending business cases that had to survive institutional-level financial and strategic scrutiny. I know what it takes for a story to earn conviction from people who are paid to find reasons to say no.
The work is personal. Every diagnostic is read and written by Raymond Eckstein. No templates. No automated scoring. A genuine clinical read of your specific pitch, in your specific context, for your specific raise.
✕ Not a slide redesign service. Visual production and graphic design are a separate discipline. The Pitch Deck Surgeon diagnoses and reconstructs the story, not the slides.
✕ Not a pitch coaching call. The diagnostic is written. Founders who want to talk through their pitch will find other services. This work is produced on paper, where precision lives.
✕ Not a fundraising guarantee. The diagnostic identifies what is wrong with your pitch story. What you do with that information, and the quality of your business, determines the outcome. No service can guarantee a funding round.
✕ Not for pre-product companies. The framework needs a business with something to evaluate: a product, early traction, a model. If you book with a pre-product deck, I'll refund you before I start reading.
If your timeline is critical, or if you have a question the FAQ does not answer, contact me directly before purchasing.

It is hard to know which part of your story is failing when nobody tells you. You walk out of the meeting not knowing why, and into the next one with the same deck.
The Pitch Vitals Check ends that silence. It tells you what is wrong, why it is wrong, and in what order to fix it, before you walk into the room that matters.
